May 2003 Newsletter
Who is CHEMCREST? This month's program was arranged by Rob Patkalitsky of B&L Wholesale Supply, Inc. Attending the meeting will be George Hoke from Chemcrest who will demonstrate the many products available through his company including High Density Polyurethane, Glassfiber Reinforced Polymer, Glassfiber Reinforced Gypsum as well as many others. Chemcrest has over 28 years experience and is North America's leader in the manufacture of molded urethane millwork in its two plants covering over 100,000 square feet of space. As mentioned above Chemcrest will provide cocktails for our members between the Board and General Meetings. Welcome! We extend a warm welcome to the following company whose application for association membership was approved at the Board Meeting held April 9th. Approved was: C. Concrete, Inc. Why not give Frank a call while it is fresh in your mind, to welcome him to our association and see how you and he can do business as members of the Niagara County Builders Association. Congratulations! Sincere congratulations are extended to 1st Vice-President Stanley Swogier of Swogier Construction, Inc. who was appointed by President, James Kuryak as our new chairman of our Remodelers Council. Special Training Program There are two training seminars you may want to attend.
Both seminars are sponsored by New York Energy Smart, NYSERDA, ENERGY STAR etc. etc. Picnic Our annual picnic is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2003. Chairman Larry Quigliano is waiting for your call to offer suggestions for a bigger and better picnic this year. We are probably going to a new location this year and hope to have a new variety of eats. We need a games chairman and someone to sell our 50/50 tickets. We also need sponsors to keep this picnic affordable. So - do it now - give Larry a call at 622-1093. Reminder - Email and Web Address Last month we sent out a form so we could update our files including email address and web page info. Please send in your info so we can keep up to date, and keep you informed. Golf Tournament The fun event of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2003 for our 6th annual golf tournament. We are looking forward to having 72 players (18 foursomes) to enable us to have a shotgun start (when all golfers finish at the same time). With the closing of Sadlo Lumber we will have to get at least eight additional golfers to fill their slots. July 16th probably seems like a long time off. However, it is less than three months before the fun event will be here. Chairman Jim Kuryak (Niagara National) and his able assistant Bob Minkiewicz (84 Lumber) are finalizing the package now. However, the price and the procedure should be the same as last year. In the meantime, please ask your suppliers to be a tee or green sponsor ($100) to enable us to keep the price affordable. The location is the same as in past years - Willowbrook on Lake St. in Lockport. Home Show Parade of Homes 2003 is a "go" according to Chairman Joseph Paonessa. This year we will be having a multiple-site show covering four or five subdivisions mainly in the Wheatfield area. We expect to have eight to ten homes to showcase this year. The show will be held the last two weekends in September and the first weekend in October. All builders who are going to participate in this year's show should attend the next meeting at JT Wheatfield at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 20th. At this time contracts must be signed and advertising funds deposited. Any questions should be directed to Joe Paonessa at 297-8824 or John Ennis at 692-8282. Erie Canal Group Workcamp Reminder - A few days ago you received a letter requesting your assistance (monetary or building supplies) to help the Erie Canal Group Workcamp in their effort to rehabilitate many homes in Niagara County. We sincerely hope you are able to assist this worthy cause on behalf of the Niagara County Builders Association. Further information available from Jim Haid at 433-5252 or by contacting Executive Officer Jim Fitz-Patrick at 283-0557. IMPORTANT BOARD INFORMATION The Board meeting this month will be held at
