June 2003 Newsletter
Get Wired at our Last Meeting Until the Fall Our meeting this month will be the last general meeting until September. The meeting will feature Peter Proulx, CEO of PremCom Corporation of Amherst. PremCom is one of Buffalo/Niagara's fastest growing firms. They are known for their expertise in not only computers and networking but also their expertise in voice/data and video cabling. This past January PremCom spun off a new division called Solerity Home Networks which offers a full line of technology and entertainment services for the new homeowner. Reservations continue to be extremely important to assure proper seating arrangements and food preparation. Please make yours by Monday June 9, 2003 by calling Jim or Jenny at 283-0557, or faxing them at 283-0733. Build Pac 50/50 Split Our winner at the May meeting was Tim Lewis from Niagara Gutter. Tim received $60 as his share of the split. You too can be a winner. Stan Swogier of Swogier Construction will be happy to sell you tickets. They sell for $1.00 each, 3 for $2.00 and the best buy of 10 for $5.00 20th Annual State and Local Government Affairs Conference Are you interested in knowing about impact fees and excise taxes, zoning, tort reform or code wars update? Then you should attend this conference, being held in Wichita, Kansas on November 6-8, 2003. If interested in attending, please contact National Director Sil Barone at 693-0807 / 583-3445 or Executive Officer Jim Fitz-Patrick at 283-0557. The feature speaker will be Jim Morris, a political and celebrity impressionist. Our 6th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday July 16th at Willowbrook Golf Course, located at 4200 Lake Street in Lockport. We hope to have 72 golfers (18 foursomes) so we can have a shotgun start so all golfers finish at the same time. The cost is $75 per person and this includes green fees, cart rental, lunch, a bucket of practice balls, prizes and surprises as well as a complete dinner afterwards. A flyer will be sent out in a bout a week giving complete details and a form to return listing the players in your group. There will also be a place to mark your intention to be a Tee or Green Sponsor, at a cost of $100. In the meantime, mark your calendars for July 16th, and start working on your foursomes. Any questions should be directed to Chairman Jim Kuryak at 684-6000 or Co-chair Bob Minkiewicz at 570-0703. This year's picnic will be held on Thursday, August 14th at West Canal Park (Marina). Chairman Larry Quigliano is finalizing the food arrangements with Joe and Dana from JT Wheatfields. As things now stand we will have the regular picnic foods (hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, salads, etc.) starting about 2PM. In addition there will be clams (raw and steamed) as well as that famous "Merv Cook" corn. Beer and pop will be available and JT's will also have a cash bar for other refreshments if you so desire. At 6PM a Strip Steak dinner will be served. All of this for only $30 per person ($35 at the door). The picnic committee is in need of a game chairperson and someone to handle our 50/50 split. We are also in need of "Corporate" sponsors to keep the price of the picnic affordable. A special picnic bulletin will be sent to all members in early July along with tickets and a sponsor form. In the meantime, be sure to mark your calendars for August 14 2003 for the greatest picnic ever. To offer your help or if you have any questions, please call Larry at 283-4074 / 622-1093 or Co-chairs Sil Barone 693-0807 / 583-3445 or Rachel Leo at Kitchen World (434-5606).
