March 2004 Newsletter
Niagara Falls can
break your heart This month's meeting will be of great interest to all our members. As many of you may know, Niagara County has the highest rate of deaths from heart disease in the nation. Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is building a new emergency room and heart center to address the needs of our community. Craig Avery, Chairman of the Heart Center and one of our newer members will give us all the information about this exciting project slated to start in April. Architectural renderings and floor plans will be available and opportunities for sub-contractors will be discussed. Our dinner will be a full course pork tenderloin over rice and will cost $20 inclusive. Reservatiosna re most important, so please call 283-0557 or fax yours to the Builders Office at 283-0733. Final date to reserve is Friday, March 5th. Membership Please welcome to our association the following company whose application for associate membership was approved by the Board of Directors on February 11th. Approved was:
Please give Shannon a call to welcome her to our association and see how you and she can do business as members of the Niagara County Builders Association. 50/50 Split Past President Jim Kuryak was the winner of our Build-Pac 50/50 split at the February meeting. He received $54 as his share of the split and was seen heading toward the bar with several of his "friends" after the meeting. Golf and Picnic Changes We have a couple of changes for you to mark on your calendars. Our annual picnic will be held on Wednesday August 18th at West Canal Park (same place as last year). Chairman Larry Quigliano is working on the many details of this great event and we will have more information to you as soon as it becomes available. There has also been a change in the date of our annual golf tournament. Our date has been changed to Wednesday, July 14th to allow additional time between the two great summer events. Chairman Jim Kuryak has advised that in order to have a better golf tournament and eliminate problems (slow starting) that we have had the past couple of years, a maximum of eighty golfers will be permitted, so mark your records for July 14th and August 18th for a super time. The NYSBA Research and Education Foundation is sponsoring a "Leadership Training and Professional Development Conference" on April 23-24, 2004 (Wednesday and Thursday). Complete details and cost of this great learning seminar is available from the NYSBA at (518) 465-2492 and speaking with Barbara Carpenter. Group Work Camps In last month's bulletin we mentioned the need for monetary donations or building materials to assist Group Work Camps 2004 in their June 27th to July 3rd project. If you are able to assist please call Jim Haid at 433-5252. Reminder State Director Skip Mazenauer would like to have several of our members attend Lobby Day in Albany on Tuesday March 30th. So far Skip and Larry Quigliano have said that they will attend and possibly Jim Kuryak and Stan Swogier will be going. If you would like to attend or need further information call Skip at 773-7676. This is a golden opportunity for you to meet with Senators George Maziarz and Byron Brown and Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte to discuss with them the issues vital to the building business. |
