2-10 Home Buyers Warranty!

As most of you will recall, our meeting for September was a presentation by Lisa Norman of 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. Since Lisa was required to attend meetings in Atlanta at that time, the program was changed to October. 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty provides an extended warranty on newly constructed homes. 2-10 Home Buyers Waranty will cover the cost of dinner for all BUILDER members who attend the meeting. Our dinner that evening will be a full course rib eye steak dinner (including dessert and coffee) and will cost $20 inclusive. Please make your reservations upon receipt of the bulletin by calling Cathy at the Builders office, 693-5736, or fax to her at 693-5738. Final date to reserve is Friday, October 7th. We will also have to formally approve the application for associate membership for 2-10 Home Buyer Warranty since we did not have a quorum at the September meeting.

Executive Officer Position

Jim FitzPatrick, your Executive Officer for the past 25 years, has announced his retirement effective October 31, 2005. If anyone is interested in this position, or would like further information, please call President Stan Swogier at 628-4403 or 1st Vice President Larry Quigliano at 622-1093 as soon as possible.

Election

Our election of Board of Directors and Officers will take place at the November meeting on November 9, 2005 at John's Flaming Hearth Restaurant on Military Road. To date, President Stanley Swogier has selected past presidents John Ennis and Murdoch Mitchell as part of the nominating committee. In the near future he will be selecting two members from the general membership and then setting up a meeting to prepare a slate of people to run your association over the next year or two. If you would like to be a part of the group that runs your association, please call Stan at 731-4240 or 628-4403. All that is required of you is to attend a Board meeting each month and possibly chair or co-chair one of our social events.

Picnic

Our annual picnic was held on August 25, 2005 at West Canal Park in Wheatfield. Special thanks to chairman Larry Quigliano and his Co-chairs Rachel Leo and Bob Minkiewicz. E.O. Jim FitzPatrick handled the tickets and his wife Jenny took care of the 50/50 split with the assistance of Rachel Leo and Stan Swogier. The split netted the association $325. The cost of the picnic was reduced with the assistance of 21 sponsors who were: Pollard Windows, Sil Barone Homes, J.D. Electric, B&L Wholesale Supply, 84 Lumber, Rosal Construction, Niagara Gutter, Town Building Systerms/Insulation, Pariso Trucking, Twin Lakes Concrete, Larry Quigliano, Swogier Construction, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, Niagara Nationa Insurance, United Rentals, Countrywide Home Loans Inc., First Niagara Bank, Chemaster, Carthage Mills, Buffalo Concrete Products and LEC Steel. The last four sponsors were obtained by Board Member Carl Capolupo from companies he does business with through his employer, United Rentals.

2005 Home Show

We are presently in the middle of our annual home show. Final dates of the show are October 1st and 2nd from noon to 5pm at all nine locations. Special thanks to co-chairs Bill Burg (Alside Windows & Doors) and Rachel Leo (Kitchen World Distributing) for a super job on this major undertaking. Rachel did an exceptional job on the VIP Party held at the Kitchen World showroom on September 16th. We also thank the Advertising Committee of Skip Mazenauer, John Ennis and Murdoch Mitchell and the Sponsorship Committee of Cathy Strassburg, Debbie Morrison (Countrywide Home Loans Inc.), Gretchen Powers (First Niagara), and Scott Cottrell (MIG Building Systems). John Ennis did his usual good job of overseeing the funds for the show. Finally we thank Larry Quigliano, Bob Minkiewicz and Stan Swogier for their input in making our 2005 Home Show a great event.
